Choose to be happy
Pollution. In Asia, it’s everywhere.
Air, water, land and noise. Different types of pollution are constantly in your face all at once – it wouldn’t be Asia without it.
Honestly, we’re over it BUT we’ve learned to accept it. We signed up for an adventure. We signed up for an experience outside of our comfort zone and we’ve learned to take the good with the bad.
One of the most important lessons we’ve learned to date, is to wholeheartedly practice gratefulness. We’re not even halfway through our travels but this experience has unreservedly changed our perspective.
Yes, we’re frustrated and annoyed at fumes, smog, cigarrette smoke, rubbish, the disregard for traffic rules and the relentless beeping of horns. Despite all this, we’ve managed to let all the negativities go. The frustrations will last for about a minute then mindfulness takes over; see the positive side of things rather than focusing on the negative. Let the good thoughts take over rather than let the bad interfere.
We’ve been able to continually reflect on how fortunate we are and how easy it is to choose to be happy rather than let negativity ruin the experience.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Amazed as to how much travelling has changed our perspective in such a short amount of time. We are so grateful for the opportunity to challenge our personal growth by embracing different cultures, different customs, different people, different environments, the good and the bad and to take it all in with a smile.
Happiness is a choice not a result. NOTHING will make you happy until you choose to be happy.faymeandmiguel
